(30 October 2025, Hong Kong) The alluring wines of Ribera del Duero (RDD) in central Spain, consistently hailed as one of the world’s top appellations, are regularly on the lips of Hong Kong connoisseurs, who cherish their vibrancy coaxed by passionate winemakers from exceptional grapes thriving in harsh yet beautiful land. In a celebration of the region’s terroir-driven complexity, selected premium pours – many imported directly from the wineries and making their Hong Kong debut – will be available at Mato Coffee Wine and La Paloma from 1 November to 31 December 2025, crowning joyous food and wine festivities leading to Christmas and New Year.

Ribera del Duero (RDD) is renowned for outstanding aged red wines crafted predominantly from the Tempranillo grape that reveal layered aromas, power and balance on the palate – ideal for special occasions or prestige gifting – as well as young fruit-forward reds of structure and finesse perfect for everyday drinking. Young, fresh and fruity white wines from the local Albillo Mayor grape boasting good acidity from ageing both in the barrel and the bottle, and refreshing rosés round out the region’s appeal. There is an RDD to stir the emotions of every wine lover this festive season.

Every bottle of RDD – voted the best wine-producing region in the world by Wine Enthusiast magazine in 2012 – is unique, unforgettable and authentic. Their quality and genuineness are assured by the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin Regulatory Council, which issues a seal and numbered back label after meticulous assessment and testing.

Savour Exceptional Ribera del Duero in Hong Kong

The undeniable allure of RDD wines will be enhanced in Hong Kong ahead of Christmas and New Year through promotions at Mato Coffee Wine and La Paloma, held from 1 November to 31 December 2025 in collaboration with the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin Regulatory Council. These coveted pours will also be available for home enjoyment at major retailers including Watson’s Wine and Enoteca.

Award-winning wine bar Mato Coffee Wine in Sheung Wan invites connoisseurs to indulge in premium RDD by the glass as part of an enticing tasting experience, available between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Ten RDD selections headline a three-hour tasting featuring 16 wines, priced at HK$650. Diners are also welcome to enjoy a two-hour free-flow of Spanish-inspired dishes for HK$350 per person, which includes eight starters and a main course to complement the vibrant wine selection.

La Paloma, a Spanish dining haven in Sai Ying Pun, presents four exquisite RDD wines daily at lunch, weekend brunch or dinner – one available by the glass (HK$118) and three by the bottle (from HK$660 to HK$980). These pair perfectly with the restaurant’s signature Spanish specialities, including chorizo, Iberian ham croquettes, seafood paella and crispy slow-roasted suckling pig.

“We are excited to bring our wines of immense complexity and quality to Hong Kong in a showcase of one of the world’s most emblematic and unique Denominations of Origin,” says Enrique Pascual, President of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin Regulatory Council. “This selection of 20 exceptional reds, whites and rosés from the 2023 to the 2015 vintage reflects the blessings of our soils, terrain, altitude and vineyard orientation, and the unwavering commitment to excellence of our passionate winegrowers and winemakers. Given their great diversity, RDD wines are outstanding choices for any occasion and time of year, and especially for Christmas and New Year feasting and gifting.”
