(24 July 2026, Hong Kong) TORIKIZOKU, Japan’s celebrated yakitori chain founded in Osaka in 1985, will open a sixth Hong Kong branch in just two years, at Grand Plaza in Mong Kok on 4 August 2026. Renowned for grilled chicken skewers elevated by signature homemade sauce and a sprinkling of pure rock salt, a lively atmosphere and affordable two‑tier pricing, the brand has quickly become a staple of Japanese dining culture in Hong Kong.

Following successful launches in Tuen Mun, Tai Po, Kwai Fong, Kwun Tong, Tseung Kwan O, and now Mong Kok, TORIKIZOKU is proudly making authentic Osakan yakitori accessible to all. With more than 40 years of tradition in Japan of high-quality, juicy chicken served in an atmosphere of warm hospitality, diners at the vibrant new Grand Plaza space will also enjoy the ease of all items being priced at either HK$19.90 or HK$29.90, and digital-tablet ordering as practised in Japan – the first branch in Hong Kong to offer this convenience. Meanwhile, a refreshed food and beverage menu signals summertime fun.

Since its founding, TORIKIZOKU has remained devoted to flavour craftsmanship. Its slow‑simmered sauce, blending chicken broth, vegetables and fruits, has become a timeless hallmark. Balancing tradition with innovation, the chain ensures consistent quality across all branches through trusted sourcing and close producer partnerships.

With more than 600 directly operated or franchised restaurants across Japan, TORIKIZOKU has become a household name for celebrated yakitori served in a spirited communal atmosphere. Meaning ‘to treat guests like royalty’, the brand was founded by Tadashi Okura, a passionate chef working at an Italian restaurant in Osaka who would stop on his way home for yakitori at his favourite neighbourhood izakaya. He launched his own yakitori hotspot near the Kintetsu Shuntokumichi and JR-Shuntokumichi railway stations in Higashiosaka, and his philosophy of opening in value‑driven districts, offering semi-private dining areas, self-service ordering and uniform pricing fuelled remarkable growth.

At the heart of TORIKIZOKU’s menu today is its beloved Kizokuyaki, a generous skewer of tender chicken thigh or breast paired with sweet, chunky spring onion, best savoured with the brand’s classic tare sauce or a sprinkle of pure rock salt. Among the moreish Tsukune, juicy chicken meatballs accented with shiso, the indulgent Cheese Tsukune delivers a molten bite.

Working hand‑in‑hand with the Japan headquarters, the Hong Kong team has developed new recipes tailored to local tastes, including a specially crafted sauce debuting at the Mong Kok branch. In addition, the new branch will offer rare cuts of chicken for the first time in Hong Kong, such as Chicken Oyster and Chicken Breast Soft Bone, introducing diners fresh discoveries alongside signature favourites.

Alongside its celebrated chicken skewers, TORIKIZOKU also shines with a variety of vegetable creations. Diners can enjoy Mentaiko Zucchini Skewer, the savoury depth of King Oyster Mushroom, and the refreshing Salted Kelp Tomato. Equally popular is Kyabetsu Mori, a crunchy cabbage salad dressed in a light Japanese sauce and offered with unlimited refills – a crisp, refreshing complement to the meaty yakitori.

Comfort dishes showcasing the brand’s homely appeal include Kamameshi, and Toriki no Karaage. All dishes, including yakitori and desserts, are priced at HK$29.90 each; sides and a special set of rice, soft-boiled egg and chicken soup cost HK$19.90 each.

True to its lively izakaya spirit, the new Mong Kok branch will unveil a lavish drinks menu with more than 40 choices designed for sharing and discovery. Among the standouts are the refreshing Mango Beer, the inventive Sake Mojito, and the bold Choya Americano, each bringing a distinctive twist that reflects TORIKIZOKU’s playful yet authentic approach to Japanese drinking culture.

A colourful range of fruit teas, from Yuzu Lime Green Tea and Passionfruit Orange Oolong to Lychee Apple Green Tea and Peach Pineapple Red Tea, bring an energising balance to the table. Calpis Soda, smoothies and inventive speciality coffees round out the selection, ensuring there are tipples for every mood, whether casual afternoon catch‑up or late‑night revelry. All alcoholic drinks are priced at HK$29.90 each, while non‑alcoholic options (except Suntory All-Free and smoothies) are HK$19.90.

Spanning almost 3,600 sq. ft and seating 140 diners across 38 tables, the new branch blends elevated design with convivial ambience. Pops of bold colour echo the energy of Mong Kok against a cosy backdrop of golden wood panels and textured finishes. Ambient lighting illuminates communal tables, while intimate booths provide relaxed corners for smaller groups. Decorative details that transport the imagination to Osaka’s izakaya heritage are balanced with contemporary touches that feel at home in Hong Kong’s bustling dining scene. Japanese graphic design elements and traditional noren curtains lend an authentic flourish to the entrance and dining spaces.

TORIKIZOKU’s sixth branch in Hong Kong is located at Shop 206, 2/F, Grand Plaza, 625 & 639 Nathan Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon. It opens daily from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to midnight, with service extended until 1:00 a.m. on weekends – an exclusive schedule designed to embrace Mong Kok’s late‑night energy and provide diners with more time to enjoy the dynamic izakaya experience.
