(4 February 2026, Hong Kong) – Wellcome, the city’s largest homegrown supermarket chain, has grown alongside generations of Hong Kong families since 1945. Its Prosperous Garden branch, opposite the Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station – a Grade II historic building on bustling Canton Road – has been refreshed as a nostalgia concept store celebrating Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and shared memories.
Created for locals and tourists alike, the store invites the community to step back into the charm of the 1950s through the 1970s. More than just a place to shop, it offers a truly unique experience, combining a retro-themed atmosphere and photo spots with curated local selections and souvenirs that are rarely found elsewhere.

The experience begins at the storefront, which glows with LED signage inspired by the iconic neon lights of old Hong Kong, set against walls of nostalgic mirrored tiles. Past the classic silver‑and‑green turnstile, shoppers step into a ‘time tunnel’ filled with retro details – red plastic lamps, a retro TV selfie spot, an old-style telephone display, vintage grocery scenes and traditional street signs - reconnecting the community and visitors with memories of Hong Kong’s past.
Take Home Exclusive Heritage Mementos, Celebrating Hong Kong’s Retail Story
Shoppers can also take home a tangible piece of history with a limited-edition Wellcome Retro Eco Bag – a durable keepsake inspired by the classic red-and-yellow Wellcome carrier bag that was a household staple across Hong Kong for decades. Redeem it for HK$28 (valued at HK$68) with any single purchase of HK$100 or more.
The rewards continue throughout February:
